Bio

In May 2002, the culmination of a lifelong dream for CEO and Creative Director, Daniel Link, created MarcDaniel Salon and opened its door to the public. The salon is the bold expression of his vision and over 30 years’ experience in the industry.

The salon’s core services reflect Daniel’s philosophy of specialization. Having worked with some of the world’s best stylists and on the most glamorous shows in the industry, he developed an appreciation for the artistic benefits brought about by focusing on a singular area of expertise and developing it to the highest possible level. Daniel stays true to the art that has always been his passion, noting that there is a great difference between giving someone a haircut and creating a style that is functional and at the same time creative and personalized for each guest.

Education is a large part of Daniel’s philosophy, not only for his clients and himself, but for his staff as well. He has studied under some of the most well-known names in the business. He completed three levels of study at the New York Academy under Jacques Dessage, received advanced training at Vidal Sassoon in London, Santa Monica and Toronto, is an annual attendee at London’s Salon International show and makes semi-annual visits to New York to view trends.

He sets the same high standards for his employees, who come to the salon armed with a specialization and desire to develop their skills to an even higher level. Daniel has developed his own signature system for cutting hair over the years, incorporating English and French techniques, as well as some of his own trade secrets. All MarcDaniel staff are required to complete an extensive 6-week hands on training before working with any of the salon’s guests. This training is one of the most rigorous in the industry and each team member is certified by Daniel himself.

Having shared the stage and catwalks with the industry’s glitterati, Daniel’s career has been marked by a large amount of notoriety on local, national and international levels. His work has appeared in many national and international magazines, including Allure, Vogue, Italian Vogue, Modern Salon, American Salon and Mpls/St Paul Magazine, along with countless photos of his work in haircut/styling magazines. You may recognize him from his time on TV sharing trends and helping local celebs look their best.

Daniel’s professional accomplishments are numerous, including presenting at the Midwest Beauty Show in Chicago, Intercoiffure International in New York, Intercoiffure Canada and sharing the stage with presenters such as Irving Rusk/Rusk International, Sam Brucato, Orbe Vidal Sassoon and many other icons of the industry.

“I believe my job is to create an environment in the salon that allows each team member to achieve their maximum potential through continuing education and setting the example.” “Our guest will recognize the difference the minute they sit in our chair and experience a personal conversation that will uncover the best suited style for each individual.”
